US Ambassador Meets Shia Leader

U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Michel Issa met with Shia Sheikh Ali al-Khatib, deputy chairman of Lebanon's Supreme Shia Council. The council, the main body of Shia clerics, is effectively controlled by Hezbollah and Amal. The meeting follows reports of American openness to direct talks with Hezbollah.
