The Lebanese Armed Forces have issued a written response to reports that Lebanese officers oppose an IDF withdrawal from southern Lebanon at this stage, out of fear Hezbollah would return to those areas.

LAF leadership: personnel are bound by military orders and act solely out of national responsibility to protect Lebanon's sovereignty, security and stability. It called the reports a propaganda campaign, published at a sensitive stage, meant to cast doubt on the ranks and damage trust between the army and the Lebanese public.
