Farah Hamed, a Hamas military wing operative, was eliminated Wednesday in a strike in central Gaza.
He previously served as a senior operative in Hamas' "West Bank Headquarters" and fought against IDF troops throughout the war. Part of the "Silwad" cell, he carried out several attacks in the Binyamin area that killed and wounded Israeli civilians, and took part in the October 2003 Ein Yabrud shooting that killed three IDF soldiers: Sgt. Elad Pollak, Sgt. Roi Yaakov Solomon and Staff Sgt. Erez Idan.
Hamed was released to Gaza in the 2011 Shalit prisoner exchange. He then returned to Hamas' military wing, recruiting and directing operatives to advance attacks in Judea and Samaria.
