Egyptian writer Sharif al-Asfouri has published his book "The Flood of Fools" in Egypt, centered on sharp criticism of Hamas' October 7 massacre -- which the group calls the "Al-Aqsa Flood."

In a rare interview from Cairo with the Israeli program -- InOurNeighborhood, he said: "The October 7, 2023 attack produced negative results for the Palestinian people, and I believe deep problems will not be solved through violence and war."

He said the title shocked the public and political elite, that he struggled to get official approval, and was forced to delete maps from the book. He recently resigned from Egypt's Writers Association.
