Reporter: Some members of the Jewish community, including Rep. Josh Gottheimer, were alarmed when you called AIPAC “monsters who move dark money.”

Mamdani: “I want to be very clear.” He said the focus should be on the war, arguing that children are being killed daily and that more than 1,000 Palestinians have been killed since the ceasefire.

He also cited the death of Al Jazeera journalist Ahmed Wishah, who he said was killed in an Israeli strike. (Israel has identified Wishah as a confirmed Hamas terrorist.)

Mamdani accused AIPAC of supporting “a status quo of immorality” and said the organization has opposed efforts to bring safety and stability to the region.

He added that AIPAC helps defend that status quo through political donations and, at times, through “dark money,” which he said is routed through outside groups whose donors are not fully disclosed until after elections.

“When we ask ourselves how such death and destruction is happening overseas, we also name those who allow it to take place,” he said.

Zohran Mamdani on AIPAC:

In AIPAC, for whom the only thing more frightening than democracy being allowed to run its course is an end to genocide and Netanyahu's wars.

They move millions in dark money to accomplish a single goal: to preserve their power so that they can turn us against one another instead of our leaders turning towards the moral change we all know to be necessary.

In the wealthiest city, in the wealthiest country in the history of the world, we need not live in fear of monsters any longer.

Economy

NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani declares a "budget crisis," requesting a bailout from the state government and pushing back his deadline for completing the city budget at least 10 days.

Mamdani: "We cannot close this deficit with savings alone. We need new revenue, and we need a structural reset in our relationship with the state. That is the only way to meet our legal obligation to pass a balanced budget."

U.S. President Donald Trump:

"Sadly, Mayor Mamdani is DESTROYING New York! It has no chance! The United States of America should not contribute to its failure. It will only get WORSE. The TAX, TAX, TAX Policies are SO WRONG. People are fleeing. They must change their ways, AND FAST. History has proven, THIS “STUFF” JUST DOESN’T WORK. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DJT."

Zohran Mamdani on Iran War:

At the heart of any war is dehumanization. And dehumanization never stays confined to the war.

When you normalize killing abroad, you normalize cruelty at home.

This is the dehumanization we are allowing to spread in our country.

A young Muslim woman was attacked on a subway platform.

Her attacker said, ‘I wonder how many Iranians we killed today.’
