Khamenei loyalists and Jalili hardliners turned on Iranian President Pezeshkian during a Khamenei mourning ceremony, chanting "death to the normalizers" and "death to the traitors."
Mojtaba Khamenei authorized ceasefire talks with Washington after President Pezeshkian threatened to resign if the deal was rejected, warning Iran's economy neared collapse under a U.S. naval blockade.
The Supreme Leader said he opposed the agreement "in principle" but would back it if the Supreme National Security Council approved. It did, overwhelmingly.

After Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Iran would never relinquish its right to enrich uranium and insisted that Tehran's ballistic missile program was no longer a point of contention in negotiations, President Trump responded with a sharp warning.
"He should keep his mouth shut and get a grip - or we will take over the rest of the country," Trump said.
Addressing the Strait of Hormuz, Trump also warned: "If the Iranians close it, they will have no country."

President Pezeshkian: Iran does not seek nuclear weapons.
“The only issue with the United States is that we do not possess nuclear weapons,” he said, adding that Iran’s late Supreme Leader repeatedly emphasized that Tehran does not want a nuclear bomb.

The Memorandum has been signed by honourable Presidents of both the countries and also endorsed by me as the mediator. The signing of this agreement at the highest level of the respective governments demonstrates the commitment of both sides to a diplomatic resolution of the conflict. Islamabad MoU shall enter into force with immediate effect and as a first step, Islamic Republic of Iran will instantly reopen the Strait of Hormuz and the United States of America will immediately lift the naval blockade.
I offer my heartfelt congratulations and sincere appreciation to the President of the United States, Donald J. Iranian President Pezeshkian says what has been agreed so far is "an important step toward stopping the war and starting negotiations" but that a final deal has not yet been reached. He added that Iran has prepared for all options and that the government's focus remains serving the Iranian people regardless of whether a deal is finalized.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian announced that the Supreme National Security Council(SNSC) has concluded the country should pursue the path of dialogue.
