Izz al-Din al-Haddad was the commander of Hamas's military wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, in Gaza from 2025 until his death in May 2026. Known for leading Hamas's armed operations during a period of intense Israeli military pressure. IDF operations and intelligence officers spent months tracking every detail on Ezz ad-Din al-Haddad, Hamas's military wing commander and Gaza's most wanted figure, before eliminating him in Friday's airstrike. The Shin Bet provided the intelligence that closed the loop. Attention now turns to the successor of Muhammad Odeh.
Hamas sources told Asharq Al-Awsat that Mohammed Oudeh has been appointed commander of Hamas’s military wing, replacing Ezz al-Din al-Haddad, who was eliminated over the weekend.
Oudeh served as Hamas’s military intelligence chief during the October 7 attack.

All of the them have been eliminated, besides Oudeh.
Muhammad Odeh has been appointed commander of Hamas's military wing, replacing Izz al-Din al-Haddad, who was eliminated last weekend, Hamas sources told the London-based Asharq Al-Awsat.
Odeh served as Hamas's military intelligence chief on October 7. He was previously offered the role after Muhammad Sinwar was killed but declined at the time.

Haddad was the highest-ranking Hamas military leader still alive in Gaza and the last senior official who led the October 7 attack. A military source says he spent the war moving between hiding spots, using hostages, including female surveillance soldiers taken from the Nahal Oz base, as human shields against Israeli strikes.
The IAF hit the target shortly after Southern Command and Military Intelligence confirmed his position.

Haddad was responsible for the murder, abduction, and injury of thousands of Israeli civilians and IDF soldiers.
He held our hostages in cruel captivity, launched terrorist attacks against our forces, and refused to implement the agreement led by U.S. President Trump to disarm Hamas of its weapons and demilitarize the Gaza Strip.
The IDF and Shin Bet are effectively implementing the government's policy of containing threats and preemptively thwarting our enemies.
We will continue to act with strength and determination against anyone who took part in the October 7 massacre.
