Badr al-Busaidi

Oman's FM Badr Al-Busaidi held phone calls with regional counterparts on de-escalation, stressing the need for understandings to protect navigation and commercial traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.

Oman FM Badr bin Hamad: "We are not in favor of imposing transit fees in the Strait of Hormuz. That is prohibited under international law and we are committed to those rules. It's Iran's responsibility to ensure that shipping lanes are free of any mine-related hazards."

He did not rule out charging "service fees" under the pretext of enhancing navigation safety, preparing for emergencies, and combating pollution.

We acknowledge our shared responsibility with Iran as two coastal countries towards society.

Oman’s Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi urges extending the ceasefire and continuing negotiations, saying “success may require everyone to make painful concessions.”

Oman’s Foreign Minister, Badr al-Busaidi:

“Regardless of your view of Iran, this war is not of its making. It is already causing widespread economic problems, and I fear they are likely to worsen if the war continues. Oman is working diligently to ensure safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz.”
