Zaki Youssef Mahmoud Abu Mustafa, head of Islamic Jihad's elite forces in the Khan Younis Brigade, was killed in an Israeli airstrike Friday in southern Gaza, the IDF and Shin Bet announce.
Abu Mustafa had been rebuilding PIJ military capabilities in Gaza in violation of the ceasefire, advancing attacks on troops, and using Nasser Hospital to conduct terrorist training, according to the military.

During strikes carried out last week (Wednesday) in southern Gaza, the IDF said it killed Hussein Kadra and Mohammed Farra, whom it identified as operatives of Hamas’ military wing and Palestinian Islamic Jihad. According to the IDF, the two were part of a Hamas-run financial network used to transfer funds into the Gaza Strip.
The IDF said Kadra, described as the head of the network, along with Farra and other operatives, acted under the direction of Hamas leadership and helped transfer more than 500 million shekels to Hamas’ military wing, using a network of dozens of couriers and money changers in Turkey and the Gaza Strip.
According to the IDF, these funds enabled Hamas to continue paying salaries to its operatives and to finance attacks against Israeli forces and civilians, including during the recent period, which Israel says violated the ceasefire agreement.

Muhammad al-Namrouti, a Hamas platoon commander struck in southern Gaza, crossed into Israel on Oct. 7 and held hostages in tunnel captivity throughout the war, according to the IDF. Muawiya al-Aidi, a PIJ platoon commander killed in central Gaza, raided Kibbutz Be'eri on Oct. 7 and planted explosive devices targeting Israeli forces.
