Sources close to Lebanon's president tell MTV Lebanon that today's talks were successful, with an operational and detailed discussion on how the operational part of the framework agreement will be carried out.
Today's discussion covered the two pilot areas. One is an area previously occupied that the IDF will withdraw from. The other borders IDF-controlled territory, where the Lebanese Army will strengthen its presence.
Until now the IDF insisted the pilot areas be outside its control, while Lebanon insisted both be areas from which the IDF withdraws. The two sides reached a compromise.
The second issue discussed was the implementation start date. Preparations are underway for this to happen within days or hours. An announcement including the date is expected, hopefully before the end of the week.
