Two Israeli Air Force fighter jets were scrambled a short time ago over the Mediterranean toward a civilian passenger plane after a security emergency code activated in the aircraft's system and contact with the plane was lost. The pilots reported over the air that there was a malfunction.

The flight was Polish LOT number 155, operated by the Bulgarian company Electra, en route from Warsaw to Ben Gurion Airport.

IDF: "Two Air Force fighter jets were scrambled a short time ago towards a civilian plane in the Mediterranean following a report that contact with the plane was lost. The incident has ended and contact with the plane has been restored, there is no fear of a security incident."

Following the incident, the crew was not allowed to land in Israel and is expected to retrace its route and land in Bulgaria.

Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich:

Trump removed 100% of the economic pressure on Americans, while only about 20% of the economic pressure on Iran was eased.

Today, we are only a decision by the political leadership away. Within three or four hours, the Israeli Air Force can operate deep inside Iran.

That's something that has never existed before. It creates a very significant level of deterrence.

As long as we make sure Iran doesn't rebuild its capabilities, that's good, but we must not let it confuse us.

We also must not accept a reality of repeated rounds of fighting with Iran. That's not why we came here.

And even more than that, I refuse to accept a reality where we bury our heads in the sand, enjoy an artificial calm, and then wake up ten years from now facing a nuclear Iran with 20,000 missiles aimed at us.

Operations

Several Hezbollah operatives armed with RPGs were killed in Israeli airstrikes near Nabatieh in south Lebanon yesterday, the IDF says. Egoz Unit commandos identified the operatives near Israeli troops before the IAF struck the fighters and the structure they were operating from.

Separately, the Multi-Domain Unit destroyed a Hezbollah rocket launcher that the military said posed a threat to forces in the area.

Alerts

Seven Hezbollah operatives killed in an IAF strike near the village of Manzala in southern Lebanon this morning, the IDF says. Egoz Commando Unit troops spotted the operatives transporting weapons into a structure "used as a combat and observation post" and to prepare to carry out attacks on troops.

IDF: "The terrorists' actions at the post alongside the presence of the weapons within it constituted a threat to the soldiers."

Operations

IDF: Six Hezbollah operatives killed in southern Lebanon today. Five spotted near Golani troops in Zawtar al-Sharqiyah, one armed gunman identified by Commando forces at the Ali Taher ridge. IAF and ground fire hit all six.

The military says around 30 operatives remain inside a massive tunnel complex beneath the ridge. IDF: "We will not allow Hezbollah terrorists to exit the underground tunnel network or operate in the area."

Alerts

An IAF helicopter carrying President Isaac Herzog made an emergency landing at Palmachim Airbase after striking a flock of birds mid-flight. No injuries or damage reported. Herzog was en route from a memorial ceremony at Mount Herzl to a shiva in northern Israel. He transferred to a second helicopter and continued as planned, the IDF says. The incident is under investigation.

Alerts

The Israeli Air Force intercepted several Hezbollah rockets targeting IDF troops in southern Lebanon earlier today. The launcher responsible for part of the barrage was located and destroyed shortly after. No civilian alerts were triggered, in line with standard policy.

IDF forces also engaged a suspicious vehicle in the southern Lebanon operating zone after warning shots failed to resolve the threat.

Israeli Air Force chief Maj. Gen. Omer Tischler reveals a massive strike wave targeting hundreds of sites in Iran was called off just one hour before takeoff on June 8. In a letter to soldiers, Tischler said the entire Air Force was ready for a broad sortie into "the heart of Iran" when the operation was halted mid-briefing. The strike was reportedly scrapped after President Trump instructed PM Netanyahu not to escalate. Tischler confirmed that earlier offensive operations 1,500km from home struck dozens of Iranian targets, significantly damaging Iran's air defense system and hitting additional regime components.
