Israel Defense Minister Israel Katz:

I have instructed the IDF to prepare a plan to transfer all enforcement authorities concerning civilian matters among Israeli communities and the Israeli population in Judea and Samaria to the Israel Police.

“The IDF’s role is to fight Palestinian terrorism and focus on defending the borders and communities against threats. Full responsibility for enforcing civilian matters and maintaining law and order will be transferred to the Israel Police.”

Israeli military:

"Overnight (Tuesday), three Israeli civilians arrived at the Mount Hermon area and crossed the border into Syrian territory. IDF soldiers were dispatched to the area to locate them and returned them to Israeli territory.

The detained civilians were transferred to the Israel Police for further handling.

The IDF strongly condemns such incidents, which constitute an additional incident that disturbs the soldiers’ operational activity in the area and puts them in danger.

The law enforcement authorities are required to bring those involved to justice and to prevent those individuals from repeatedly engaging in this incident, which constitutes a criminal offense."

Two IDF Air Force soldiers have been indicted for committing security offenses on behalf of Iranian intelligence agencies.

The Shin Bet, Israel Police, and Military Police arrested the two in March. Both served as technicians in the Air Force. One was charged with aiding the enemy in wartime and delivering information to the enemy. He transferred materials from military training related to fighter jet systems and documented facilities and areas on a military base for an Iranian handler.

Both maintained contact with Iranian intelligence for several months and carried out tasks for money. When their handlers cut contact after they refused weapons-related tasks, the two attempted to renew the relationship for financial gain.
