Israel is entering a new “robotic age” in warfare, accelerating lessons learned from Gaza and Lebanon, where tens of thousands of unmanned and remotely operated systems have already been deployed.

Under the IDF’s 2026 to 2030 Hoshen Plan, robotics, AI and autonomous systems will become central to force building across land, air and sea. The IDF is also establishing dedicated structures for robotics and autonomous warfare.

Over the next decade, Israel plans to expand robotic systems for tunnel operations, reconnaissance, logistics, route clearance and combat. Older armored vehicles are also being converted into remotely operated platforms, while drone and ground robot swarms are being developed.

The longer term goal is mixed human machine formations, with robotic systems moving ahead of soldiers and taking on the most dangerous battlefield missions while humans retain oversight of lethal decisions.

The IDF's Hasmonean Brigade for ultra-Orthodox troops has declared its Shimon Reserve Battalion operational, completing its first battalion-level exercise last week in the Golan Heights.

The battalion is made up of Shlav Bet track soldiers, older men who previously held service exemptions and drafted for the first time, along with Haredi soldiers from other units. It is expected to deploy on the northern front in the coming months, according to operational needs.

Israeli military:

"Overnight (Tuesday), three Israeli civilians arrived at the Mount Hermon area and crossed the border into Syrian territory. IDF soldiers were dispatched to the area to locate them and returned them to Israeli territory.

The detained civilians were transferred to the Israel Police for further handling.

The IDF strongly condemns such incidents, which constitute an additional incident that disturbs the soldiers’ operational activity in the area and puts them in danger.

The law enforcement authorities are required to bring those involved to justice and to prevent those individuals from repeatedly engaging in this incident, which constitutes a criminal offense."

A year and eight months after the IDF declared the Syrian air force destroyed, Israeli defense officials say Syria has significantly accelerated its rebuilding in recent weeks.

In the past day, Syria carried out its first exercise of its kind using fighter jets in the north of the country.

Under a-Sharaa, Syria is receiving support from Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Russia, France and other states in the region. Despite talk of a future security agreement with Israel, defense officials are tracking developments that could harm Israeli freedom of action over Syrian skies.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz released a campaign video for the Likud primaries, telling voters to pick him for spot 121 and repeating the phrase "boom boom boom" to push his hardline security image.

The clip mixes footage of Katz with IDF officers, explosions and airstrikes, and a meme of two bearded men resembling Iranian figures hiding under a table.

IDF Arabic-language spokesperson to Gaza residents:

"You are under financial fraud, and it is time for you to open your eyes. The Bank of Israel, which is entrusted with the issuance of the banknotes in your hands, recommends replacing the old banknotes with new ones. Those of you who hold them are taking a huge financial risk - very soon they will be worth nothing and you will be left with nothing. Hamas is taking advantage of your plight to get rid of the invalid banknotes."

A Syrian group calling itself the "Islamic Resistance in Syria – Uli al-Bass" claims it fired drones and rockets this evening at an IDF base in the Yarmouk Basin in Syria. The base, Al-Jazeera, sits near the village of Mariyah in the tri-border area. The group says the attack was a response to "enemy violations." Nickolay Mladenov, director general of the Gaza Board of Peace, says Israel would not be required to withdraw from its current positions until weapons in each sector of Gaza are surrendered and rendered unusable.

Under the plan, each sector would first be fully demilitarized, including heavy and light weapons, personal and police arms, weapons production facilities and tunnels. Only after verification would the IDF begin a phased withdrawal from that sector.

Mladenov said Israel would retain the right to respond to imminent threats against its forces, while an American led mechanism involving mediators, U.S. personnel and an international security force would verify compliance.

“Nobody is required to do anything, last of all Israel,” until the required steps are verified, Mladenov said.
