NYT: ShinyHunters claims it took names, home addresses, phone numbers, spouses' names and some medical information tied to current and former FBI agents and job applicants, all pulled from the bureau's online jobs portal. Nothing has been leaked publicly yet, though several outlets have seen portions.
The group calls the hack retaliation, not a money grab, over an FBI advisory about its harassment tactics issued after its breach of the Canvas education platform. It wants the advisory retracted within a week. Flashpoint expects a leak regardless. The hackers point to an unknown flaw in Oracle's PeopleSoft software. Oracle gave no comment.
The FBI is investigating and has not confirmed scope or origin.
