U.S. Launches More Extensive Strikes on Iran Following Deaths of Two Service Members in Jordan Attack.

As a new round of U.S. strikes against Iran continues, American officials have told CBS News that tonight’s operations will be more extensive than previous ones, coming shortly after the U.S. military announced that two service members were killed in action in Jordan while defending against Iranian ballistic missiles and drones on July 17.

Iran attacked at least 2 military bases in Jordan this week, injuring several U.S. service members after the facilities were struck, CBS News reported on Friday, citing U.S. officials.

U.S. military planners have discussed possible military action against Cuba, including an Army-led air assault involving thousands of troops from the 101st Airborne Division, according to CBS News.

Only 14 vessels crossed the Strait of Hormuz on Sunday, half commercial and half Iran-flagged, the lowest daily total since June 13, CBS reported, citing Kpler. By Monday, at least three commodity vessels had crossed, with traffic still heavily disrupted by security risks.
