Palantir CEO Alex Karp on Germany:

"The AfD is much stronger than they appear. I have friends who five years ago were telling me they would never vote for the AfD who are voting for the AfD --people who are Social Democrats."

"When the AfD is polling at 40%, there are another ten points above that who would vote for them if they weren't the AfD."

Leaders

Elon Musk congratulated the Alternative for Germany (AfD) on its victory in the regional election in the state of Saxony-Anhalt.

AfD state leader Ulrich Siegmund: "Thank you for your support and your very clear and important perspective on the political developments of our time, here in Germany too. If we take responsibility for leading the state, I would gladly welcome close cooperation."

German AfD Leader Alice Weidel on Russia-Ukraine:

The Alternative for Germany has a very clear position: we are always open to diplomatic channels.

And we have always criticized the fact that, especially when we talk about Ukraine, we need an open channel to Russia in order to reach an understanding and achieve a peaceful solution.

We have also always said that we need good relations not only with Russia, but above all with the United States.

We can now see that the United States is sending representatives to Moscow and sounding things out between Moscow and Kyiv.

That could actually have been a role for Germany and for a German federal government. In recent decades, it was common practice for us to act as a neutral mediator, and that role would suit us much better than being rhetorical warmongers, as we are today.

Germany: The AfD is projected to win 39 seats in Saxony-Anhalt, 3 short of the 42 needed for an absolute majority.

Whether an AfD majority becomes possible depends on the BSW clearing the 5% threshold. If it falls short, seats redistribute and the AfD could reach a majority.

Every other party still refuses to form a coalition with them.

Exit polls put the AfD at 44.5%, more than double the CDU's 18.5%.

Europe

AfD leader Alice Weidel:

“Trump is now asking for help for Iran, it suggests they launched this mission without a clear plan.

They should have thought this through earlier, and I would warn against invoking Article 5 of the NATO treaty.

Obviously the Americans didn’t think about an exit strategy or how this is supposed to continue.”
