The Joint Chiefs of Staff General Gen. Dan Caine outlines Project Freedom:

"On the surface, guided missile destroyers and other warships are detecting and defeating Iranian threats. This includes fast boats and one-way attack drones. In the air, more than 100 fighters, attack aircraft, and other manned and unmanned aircraft, synchronized by the 82nd Airborne Division are in the air 24 hours a day, providing defensive overwatch for the enhanced security area."

Operations

Defense officials told The New York Times that senior military leaders are considering deploying a brigade combat team from the U.S. Army’s 82nd Airborne Division, about 3000 paratroopers assigned to the Immediate Response Force (IRF), capable of deploying anywhere in the world within 18 hours, along with elements of the division’s headquarters at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, to support U.S. military operations in Iran.
