Operations

A Hezbollah cell of three was detained in the Yarmouk Basin in Daraa province, inside the border triangle in southern Syria near the Israeli frontier, according to a statement from Syria's security services.

The three were setting up rocket launchers to carry out attacks and destabilize the area. The plot was thwarted, the launchers were dismantled, and the investigation continues.

A Syrian group calling itself the "Islamic Resistance in Syria – Uli al-Bass" claims it fired drones and rockets this evening at an IDF base in the Yarmouk Basin in Syria. The base, Al-Jazeera, sits near the village of Mariyah in the tri-border area. The group says the attack was a response to "enemy violations." The claim spread mainly through Hezbollah-linked accounts and Assad loyalists. Claims are unverified.

The explosions in Damascus that overshadowed the French president's visit point to a wider governance crisis in Ahmed al-Sharaa's Syria, more than a year and a half after he took power.

Near Quneitra in the central Golan, al-Sharaa's security forces are consolidating control with Israeli approval, even preventing operations against Israel. In the south, at the Syria-Jordan-Israel border triangle, control is far weaker. Friction flared this week between the IDF and residents of Abedin in the Yarmouk Basin when routine IDF activity was read as an attempt to take the village. The regime stayed out but set up barriers to block militants and limit escalation.
