Umm Qasr

A cargo vessel transiting the Arabian Gulf took two hits from unknown projectiles 40NM southeast of Umm Qasr, Iraq. The first caused a large explosion, the second started a fire that has since been extinguished. No injuries to crew. UKMTO is advising vessels to transit with caution.

A second blast on a freight ship in the northern Gulf was likely a drone strike, according to Iraqi security authorities. The vessel was approximately 40 nautical miles southeast of Umm Qasr.
