Temple Mount

The Temple Mount is a hilltop plateau in the Old City of Jerusalem and one of the most contested religious sites in the world. Known as a persistent flashpoint in Israeli-Palestinian tensions, home to Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock, and subject to ongoing disputes over access and sovereignty. Recently, the site has seen restricted Muslim access during regional escalations and renewed Israeli calls for synagogue construction on the compound. Last updated Jul 7th, 2026
