Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud:

"The problem in Yemen is, in fact, the Houthis. They are the ones acting aggressively, they are the ones operating outside international law and the international framework, and they are the ones destabilizing the region."

Somalia's President to Al Jazeera:

"Never accept the presence of Israel in Somalia under any circumstances."

He pointed to an Israeli naval base planned at Berbera port in Somaliland, near Bab al-Mandeb, calling Israel a "destabilising force."

Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud to Al Jazeera, in an interview not yet aired:

Somalia will not accept an Israeli presence under any circumstances. Israel's recognition of Somaliland is meant to bring Middle East crises into the region. The plan is a naval base at Berbera and use of the city's airport.

Dozens killed and injured in heavy fighting between Somali government forces and South West state militants in Baidoa, local sources tell Kaab TV; power station, military base and hotel bombed.

The Sibu 1, an oil tanker under U.S. sanctions, has been rescued after being hijacked by Somali pirates in August, according to the Puntland Maritime Police Force.

A cargo ship was boarded and seized by 8 armed men 4 nautical miles south of Mario, Somalia, according to a report to UKMTO from the vessel's security officer.

Authorities are investigating. Ships are urged to sail with caution.

Guinea-Bissau came close to recognizing Somaliland before Somalia intervened with backing from Turkey, Egypt and Saudi Arabia. Hargeisa has also been lobbying Eswatini, South Sudan and other African states, supported by the UAE and Israel, according to Mada Masr.

Essa Suleiman, from Somalia, has been identified as the attacker in the Golders Green terror attack.

UKMTO statement:

UKMTO has received a report of an incident 6NM North East of Garacad, Somalia.

It has been reported that unauthorised persons have taken control of a cargo vessel which
has been re-directed to within territorial waters.

Due to the increased threat of possible PAG activity, vessels are advised to transit with
caution and report any suspicious activity to UKMTO while authorities investigate.

A cargo ship was approached by two armed small craft 83nm southeast of Eyl, Somalia. One craft closed to 600 meters before warning shots were fired. The craft returned fire. Both vessels withdrew after the exchange. No injuries reported.
