NOW: Iranians report an explosion off Qeshm Island, possibly linked to a cruise missile launch over the sea.

According to an IRGC press release, a USAF MQ-9 UCAV was shot down earlier today by Iranian air defences over Qeshm Island.

If confirmed, this would be the 53rd MQ-9 shot down since the start of the war.

NOW: Locals are reporting a ballistic missile launch from Qeshm Island, Iran, towards the Strait of Hormuz.

These reports are unconfirmed as of now.

A military base in Bandar Abbas and the area near the Qeshm Island airport were hit this evening, two Iranian officials told the New York Times. They said the strikes caused heavy damage.

Reported locations include Bandar Abbas, Qeshm Island, Jiroft Airport, Asaluyeh and Chabahar.

In Hormozgan province, the Kuhestak telecommunications center in Sirik County was reportedly leveled.

Reports of explosions in Chabahar, Qeshm Island and Bandar Abbas, Iran.

REPORT: Iranian media report that an Emirati operated oil tanker was stopped near Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz for allegedly failing to meet Iran’s transit conditions, including authorization and payment of fees. The vessel is reportedly the Liberia flagged AMARA.

Independent confirmation is still pending.

Satellite imagery has documented two new oil slicks in the Persian Gulf near the islands of Qeshm and Sirri. The oil apparently leaked from a cargo ship struck in the attack. Efforts to tow the vessel and contain the spill are being held up by the absence of access approval from authorities in Iran.
