Mosul

Mosul is a major city in northern Iraq on the Tigris River, serving as capital of Nineveh Governorate. Known as a historic cultural and economic hub, it gained global attention as the center of ISIS's self-proclaimed caliphate before its recapture in 2017. Recently, Mosul has been a focal point for U.S. airstrikes targeting Iranian-backed PMF forces in the area. Last updated Jul 7th, 2026
