Despite offices of the PM and Defense Minister stating there is "no instruction to open Erez crossing for goods," the IDF has spent recent days preparing to open it on September 1, under heavy American pressure and with National Security Council approval.

Southern Command and the Defense Ministry built roads and renovated the crossing under U.S. CMCC supervision in Kiryat Gat. Germany's Undersecretary of Defense inaugurated a new scanning facility at Erez last Friday, purchased by Berlin.

PM Netanyahu:

I have instructed to expel the Spanish representatives from the coordination center in Kiryat Gat, after Spain repeatedly chose to stand against Israel. Those who attack the State of Israel instead of the terrorist regimes, those who do so, will not be our partners regarding the future of the region. I am not willing to tolerate this hypocrisy and this hostility. I do not intend to allow any country to wage a political war against us without paying an immediate price."
