Khan Younis is the second-largest city in the Gaza Strip, located in the south and serving as the capital of the Khan Yunis Governorate. Known as a major population and militant infrastructure hub, it has been a central battleground in successive Gaza conflicts. A PIJ commander who kidnapped 12-year-old hostage Yagil Yaakov from Nir Oz on October 7 has been ELIMINATED.

Zaki Youssef Mahmoud Abu Mustafa, head of Islamic Jihad's elite forces in the Khan Younis Brigade, was killed in an Israeli airstrike Friday in southern Gaza, the IDF and Shin Bet announce.

Abu Mustafa had been rebuilding PIJ military capabilities in Gaza in violation of the ceasefire, advancing attacks on troops, and using Nasser Hospital to conduct terrorist training, according to the military.
