Footage circulating over the past 24 hours show Iran-backed militias from Iraq crossing into southwestern Iran, including Abadan, home to major oil facilities. Clad in military uniforms, the fighters claim to be part of a “loyalty convoy” aiding civilians, but footage shows them patrolling city streets. Earlier reports linked these militias to suppressing anti-government protests and civilian killings in Iran.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei expressed gratitude to the Iraqi people and religious leaders for their support of Iran “in the face of aggression.”
