He was picked up in March 2025 in a hotel room in northern England with two firearms and ammunition on him. Prosecutors say he was recruited through Foxtrot, a Swedish organized crime network they describe as run by Iran.
Netland admitted holding the weapons and ammunition but denied any intent to carry out the killing. A retrial in July convicted him of conspiracy to commit murder.
