Green Zone

The Green Zone is a heavily fortified 10-square-kilometre diplomatic and governmental enclave in central Baghdad, Iraq. Known as the seat of post-2003 Iraqi governance and the U.S. Embassy, it remains a prime target for Iranian-aligned militant drone and rocket attacks. Recently, the Green Zone has seen drone intercepts, armed incidents near the U.S. Embassy, and a military lockdown with raids on government residences. Last updated Jul 5th, 2026
