The IDF eliminated Mahmoud Fatair, a member of Islamic Jihad's elite forces, in an airstrike in central Gaza's Deir al-Balah over the weekend.

Fatair invaded Israel on October 7 and helped hold Rom Braslavski in Islamic Jihad captivity. In November 2023, he was seen taking part in a hostage handover ceremony during a prisoner release. The IDF says he was eliminated to remove the threat after advancing attacks on troops and civilians.

Operations

Five Hamas weapon depots were destroyed in overnight Israeli airstrikes across Gaza, the IDF and Shin Bet announced.

The sites held assault rifles, explosive devices and anti-tank launchers. One was located next to Shuhada al-Aqsa Hospital in Deir al-Balah.

The IDF says the weapons were intended for attacks on Israeli forces and civilians, and were destroyed to remove the threat.
