Hezbollah rockets aimed at IDF troops in the southern Lebanon security zone struck the Christian village of Debl yesterday and today, damaging property. Residents who remained in the village with Israeli permission were unharmed.
An IDF soldier received three weeks in military jail for placing a cigarette in the mouth of a Virgin Mary statue in the Christian village of Debel in southern Lebanon. A second soldier who took the photo was sentenced to two weeks.
The IDF says it views the incident "gravely" and respects holy sites and religious symbols of all religions.
IDF says it is investigating after footage showed military excavators damaging solar panels in the Christian village of Debel in southern Lebanon.
"The actions seen in the video do not align with the values of the IDF and the conduct expected of its soldiers," the military said.
The IDF says actions will be taken against the troops involved. Lebanese media report damage was also caused to water infrastructure, homes, roads, and olive trees in the villages.
