The USS George Washington is replacing the USS Abraham Lincoln in the Middle East after the Lincoln spent over 250 days deployed, per WSJ.

NEW: The USS George Washington is headed to the Middle East as part of a planned carrier rotation, taking over the USS Abraham Lincoln.

The USS Boxer Amphibious Ready Group, carrying the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, has shifted from the CENTCOM area of responsibility (Middle east) to the Indo Pacific. The force is set to join the USS George Washington Carrier Strike Group, currently operating in the Philippine Sea.
