Trump proposed a $1.5 trillion defense budget for FY2027, a 40%+ increase over last year and one of the largest jumps in modern U.S. history.
Over $750 billion goes to weapons development and procurement. Priorities include major naval shipbuilding, F-35 and next-gen aircraft, the "Golden Dome" missile defense system, drones, AI, and munitions.
US FY 2027 Budget: Nondefense spending cut by $73B, eliminating CDFI Fund awards, EPA environmental justice programs, and Community Services Block Grants.
Total proposed: $1.5T - $1.15T discretionary, $350B mandatory, covering Golden Dome construction, munitions resupply, critical minerals, and shipbuilding.
