About Open Source Intel
Open Source Intel is a real-time news and intelligence operation covering the Middle East, global security, and geopolitical developments as they unfold. We report from open-source signals: verified footage, satellite imagery, official statements, field dispatches, and on-the-ground sources. We publish in real time to an audience of over 1.5 million on X.
We were founded in January 2020 and began tracking Middle East developments through open-source intelligence methods. Our coverage deepened dramatically following the October 7, 2023 Hamas invasion of Israel, when the existing media landscape failed to keep pace with events on the ground. What began as a single X account grew into one of the most-followed open-source intelligence operations covering the Middle East, with reporters from Bloomberg, Reuters, CNN, Fox News, and the New York Post among our regular audience. Our bulletins on X have been reposted by the White House, Donald Trump and The Department of Homeland Security.
What We Cover
Our reporting covers breaking events and analysis across these areas:
- Middle East: Military operations, security developments, and political shifts across Israel, Iran, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, and the wider region
- Global Security: Conflicts, crises, and military developments beyond the Middle East, including Ukraine and the Indo-Pacific
- U.S. Policy: American foreign policy, defense decisions, and domestic developments where they shape international events
- Geopolitics: Power dynamics between states, alliance shifts, diplomatic maneuvering, and strategic competition
What Makes Us Different
We are not just an aggregator. Open Source Intel produces original reporting, proprietary analysis, and real-time intelligence drawn from a network of analysts and on-the-ground sources. Our editorial standard is verification before publication: every claim is checked against multiple open sources before it reaches our audience.
Our audience doesn't come to us for headlines. They come because we report what's actually happening, explain why it matters, and do it faster than anyone else.
